Vero Beach Opera Names Deborah Voigt as New Artistic Advisor

Deborah Voigt has just been named as the new Artistic Advisor to Vero Beach Opera (VBO). Working in close collaboration with VBO Artistic Director Roman Ortega-Cowan and VBO Music Director Bruce Stasyna, she will offer the company advice and expertise related to opera repertoire, casting, and production. She will also be involved in programming, long-term planning, judging international vocal competitions, and conducting special concerts, masterclasses, and performances, besides working with the administrative staff to offer guidance in fundraising for the Deborah Voigt/VBO Foundation, which supports talented young artists committed to a career in opera.

Voigt comments:

“As a former resident of Vero Beach, I’ve had a long relationship with the company, and I very much admire what Roman Ortega-Cowan and his wife, Joan, are doing for the community. Busy as I am with my singing career and recent appointment as Professor of Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, I look forward to helping them as best I can.”

The Vero Beach Opera Board of Directors, staff, membership, and community are thrilled to welcome Voigt into the company. A world leader in opera whose reputation precedes her, she recently demonstrated her commitment to the opera world and to the Vero Beach community by inaugurating the first annual Deborah Voigt/Vero Beach Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition in March. Her knowledge of opera production and staging, her love of the art form, and her relationships with major opera houses around the world will bring an added richness of experience to Vero Beach Opera.
